Dance is popular in Japan and it's very popular with Japanese girls. If you go out at night nearly anywhere in urban Japan you'll find girls practicing their routines in front of closed department stores, in city plazas, and under pedestrian overpasses.
Friday nights Nippon Television(日テレ) airs a program titled Super Chample(スーパーチャンプル). Super Chample pits various dance teams in a friendly competition. Some of the groups who appear on this show become rather famous and acquire a large following who trail them to competitions throughout Tokyo and other parts of Japan.
Usually the dancers' styles are pretty wild, but their skills can be amazing! Here's a clip of one dancer, Junko, who dances reggae style. You can tell by her appearance, Shibuya all the way. Online other clips are available with teams dancing, I prefer the teams over individual routines.

What would qualify as the very first Reggae song recorded ?
I know some will say do the reggay by Toots and the Maytals. I'm looking for the beat that came closest to reggae it may not have necessarily been classified as reggae, but listening to it would have felt like reggae.
